I spent the last few days in Devon – sounds like heaven… and feels like it too!

One of my favourite trips was a walk to Berry Head nature reserve just outside Brixham on the south Devon coast. Berry Head is a coastal headland that juts out into the sea and forms the southern edge of Tor Bay.

It is beautiful, majestic – awe inspiring. The cliffs are about 55m high – straight down to the see with no fences to block the view… or stop you wandering over the edge!

My wife, Lydia, said it was like standing on the edge of the world…

It is also home to Britain’s tallest light house – here is a picture of me stood beside it. Yes, it is Britain’s tallest light house – it’s light is higher above sea level than any other light house.

It is also Britain’s shortest light house – as you can see from the picture. It has the shortest building of any light house in the country. It is both the tallest and the shortest at the same time – it all depends how you want to look at it.

It’s a choice – how do you want to look at it?

Although it varies some depending which country you are in… the reality for almost everyone today is we are in a transitional phase – or a liminal space – going from one thing to another – not in full lockdown, but not free of restrictions. Some sectors of the economy are doing well – many others are stagnant or shrinking

Is this the best of times, or is it the worst of times?

It all depends on how you want to look at it.

The number of opportunities you encounter every day of your life never changes – what does change is your ability to see them or your willingness to pursue them.

As a motivational speaker or coach, your super power is giving people the ability to look at things differently – to realise that is the choices we make, not the circumstances that we find ourselves in that ultimately determine our success – every day.

The truth is, the harder you work – the luckier you get. The more you invest in yourself, the more opportunities you spot and the more your business grows.

If you have a message that matters – if you can change peoples lives with your story and experience – if your business will help other people – then it is your duty, your responsibility, to do all you can to make sure you can share that message with clarity, confidence and courage so that as many people as possible get to hear it, receive it and act on it.
